About our products: Frequently asked questions
Why is it important to use a cleanser?
If the skin is not sufficiently clean, dead skin cells remain causing
the skin to become dull, flaky and prone to clogged pores and congestion.
Cleansing also prepares the skin for the application and penetration
of further products. Most cleansers on the market today contain
harsh surfactants that strip the skin of its natural oils further
exacerbating existing skin conditions. Our plant-derived cleansers
are mild and gentle and are conveniently designed to use in the
shower.
Do I need a toner?
A toner will remover debris, residual soap and purify the complexion,
balancing sebaceous activity and restoring the acid mantle. They
assist with improving skin elasticity and providing an additional
layer of nutrients and moisture. Most toners are based on synthetic
alcohol and harsh chemicals and should be avoided.
When should I moisturise?
Moisturisers should be used after cleansing and toning to re-hydrate
and deeply nourish the skin. Our moisturisers are formulated to
create a protective barrier against oxidants and moisture loss.
Additional botanical ingredients such as essential fatty acids,
pure vitamins and essential oils have both healing and rejuvenating
qualities whilst offering maximum hydration. It is recommended to
use facial cremes sparingly and apply to damp skin.
How should I apply a moisturiser?
Note areas of dryness/oiliness on particular areas of the face.
Also note the menstrual cycle when fluctuating hormones may result
in increased sebaceous activity. Areas where the skin is producing
sufficient oil, for example the t-zone and along the jaw line, do
not necessarily require extra moisture and can be omitted from application.
Rather concentrate on the drier areas of the face.
Is it necessary to exfoliate?
The skin has its own cycle of shedding (desquamation) although this
is not always efficient. To aid in the removal of dead skin cells
it is recommended to exfoliate the skin at least twice a week. Our
Face and Body Exfoliant is a gentle dermabrasive that will friction
off the skin and dissolve the dead skin cells whilst removing impurities.
It is important to allow the Exfoliant to do the work without the
necessity of added pressure.
What are the benefits of exfoliating?
- Leaves the skin looking and feeling fresh and clean.
- Erases minor blemishes and helps prevent their formation.
- Rids the skin of surface flakiness leaving it smoother.
- Evens the tone and colour of the skin.
- Rids the skin of build up around the follicles allowing a more thorough cleanse, resulting in the refinement and appearance of open pores and scar tissue.
- As a result of removing surface build up the skin will more readily absorb the following treatments and cremes.
How often should I use a facial mask?
We recommend that you use a mask 1-2 times per week. They assist
with toning, balancing re-mineralising and deeply cleansing the
skin. (Refer to fresh mask section.)
What are the benefits of using clay masks?
The use of clay is well renowned for its healing properties and
has been use by civilizations for thousands of years both externally
and internally. Therapeutic clays are brilliant to use in regenerative
skincare as they have a very strong affinity to water. A clay mask
will produce excess heat, which increases blood circulation and
induces perspiration allowing wastes and other toxins to be eliminated.
The active surfaces of clay act to absorb the toxins that are eliminated
from the skin.
What are the benefits of essential oils
in skin care?
Derived from flowers, fruit, grasses, seeds, bark, wood, roots,
leaves, balsam & resin, essential oils have been utilised for
thousands of years. They are invaluable as they have the ability
to work both medicinally and therapeutically. They are readily absorbed
via the skin into the bloodstream whilst having a balancing and
regulating affect on sebum production. The essential oil synergies
in Mukti Botanicals have been chosen for their beneficial qualities
on the skin such as:
- Trans-dermal penetration
- Potency
- Natural antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and fungicidal properties
- Anti-aging and wound healing
- Lipolytic (fat dissolving)
- Circulatory stimulants
How can you ascertain the purity of essential
oils?
To be considered as 100% pure and natural an essential oil must
not have been tampered with by either natural or synthetic components.
The majority of essential oils sold in Australia have been adulterated
to some degree. Unlike many products that may contain these oils
we guarantee that our essential oils and base oils are of the highest
quality and purity available anywhere in the world. For each of
the oils in our range they are verified with comprehensive data
including the precise definition of the botanical species, country
of origin, method of production, the part of the plant used, and
organic verification.
Are pure essential oils contraindicated?
Some citrus oils are photosensitising when used in conjunction with
direct sunlight. It is advisable that certain oils are avoided during
pregnancy, especially during the 1st trimester.
All essential oils that are contraindicated are used in synergistic
blends in Mukti Botanicals products are less than 1% of the total
formulation.
How do I unblock my serum pump dispenser?

- Use a straightened paper clip and insert in the small hole at the base of the dispenser \
- Keeping product upright, remove the lid and unscrew the fixture so that product is visible
- Gently push upwards and towards the centre until product reaches just inside the neck
- Screw on fixture and pump as normal
